Time and Tide Watches

Challenge

Time+Tide is one of the world's leading publishers of watch content, publishing a minimum of 3 stories per day and maintaining partnerships with CNN and other global media outlets. Their existing platform couldn't handle the dual demands of high-volume editorial publishing and a growing eCommerce operation — a single monolithic site was creating performance and scalability constraints that threatened both the editorial and commerce sides of the business.

Solution

CodeDrips architected and built a Shopify development solution split across 3 purpose-built platforms: a headless Shopify store managed by a Gatsby React frontend for commerce, a heavily customised WordPress CMS with custom algorithm feeds to power editorial content, and cross-platform content distribution routing stories to the right audience on both platforms.

Results

The three-platform architecture gave Time+Tide the scalability to sustain 3+ daily content publishes while keeping the Shopify store fast and independent of CMS load. The headless approach delivered improved performance for both editorial readers and watch buyers, supporting a brand that reaches global audiences through its own platform and partnerships with major media outlets including CNN.
